Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Smashes Sales Records, Reaching 3.3 Million Copies in 33 Days
The debut RPG, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, from the newly formed Sandfall Interactive, is experiencing a meteoric rise, selling an astounding 3.3 million copies in just 33 days. This impressive feat comes just over a month after the game's initial release, solidifying its status as a breakout success. The developers themselves expressed their disbelief, stating, "We couldn't make that up."
The game's rapid success is even more remarkable considering it launched in the shadow of the *Oblivion Remastered*, which the publisher believes actually helped draw attention to quality RPGs. The game's performance has also surpassed that of other popular titles, including *Metaphor: ReFantazio*, and is now considered in the same league as its JRPG inspirations.
*Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* is also available on Xbox Game Pass, and the publisher confirmed that the 3.3 million copies sold are full units, not including downloads through the subscription service. The team, which is relatively small, is already looking ahead, with "great ideas for the next game." The director's advice to other developers is simple: "You have to make a game that you will like."
