King of the Hill Voice Actor Jonathan Joss Dies in Shooting at 59
Beloved voice actor Jonathan Joss, best known for his role as John Redcorn on the animated series *King of the Hill*, has died at the age of 59. According to police reports, Joss was fatally shot on Sunday night in San Antonio, Texas, during a dispute with a neighbor. The alleged shooter, identified as Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, has been taken into custody and charged with murder.
The incident occurred when Joss and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, visited their former home, which had been damaged in a fire, to check their mail. According to de Gonzales, they were confronted by a man who began shouting homophobic slurs before opening fire. De Gonzales stated that Joss pushed him out of the way, saving his life. The couple married earlier this year on Valentine's Day.
Joss was found near the street by officers and pronounced dead at the scene. The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment community, particularly among fans of *King of the Hill*. The series, which originally ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008, is set to return for a 14th season on Hulu in August. It is currently unclear whether Joss will be featured in the revival.
Beyond *King of the Hill*, Joss had a prolific career, appearing in numerous television shows and films. He had a recurring role on *Parks and Recreation* as Chief Ken Hotate and also appeared in *Tulsa King*, *Ray Donovan*, *True Grit*, and *The Magnificent Seven*.
In a poignant Instagram video posted shortly before his death, Joss expressed his excitement about the *King of the Hill* reboot and encouraged fans to meet him at a comic shop. In the video, he reflected on the concept of expiration dates, urging others to embrace their talents and "be a can of whoop ass" even when faced with challenges.
