ITV Studios Acquires Spanish Production Company Plano a Plano
ITV Studios has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Plano a Plano, a prominent Spanish scripted production company. Founded in 2011 by Csar Bentez, Plano a Plano is renowned for its successful series "Valeria," which has achieved global recognition, ranking among Netflix's top 5 most-viewed international dramas. The company also produced "El Principe" for Mediaset, which has been sold to over 60 international markets, and the daily telenovela "Servir Y Proteger" for TVE.
The acquisition will see Bentez, CEO Emilio Amar, and executive producer lvaro Bentez continue to lead Plano a Plano from its headquarters. They will report to Lisa Perrin, ITV Studios' managing director of international production, based in London.
Plano a Plano has a diverse portfolio of current projects, including the recently premiered heist series "Suspicious Minds" on Disney+. The company is also producing two titles for Netflix: the upcoming adaptation of "All the Truth Behind My Lies" and the psychological thriller "Innato," in association with Dynamic Television. Additionally, Plano a Plano is filming "Ella, maldita alma" for Mediaset and its first feature film, the historical drama "La Tregua," with participation from RTVE and Netflix.
ITV Studios views this acquisition as a strategic move to expand its international content business, recognizing the growing demand for Spanish-language scripted content globally. The deal aligns with ITV's strategy of incorporating successful production companies into its portfolio.
