Android Phone Mimics iOS 26's "Liquid Glass" Design

In a move that will likely surprise few, an Android phone manufacturer appears to have directly emulated the design of Apple's upcoming iOS 26, specifically its "Liquid Glass" aesthetic. Chinese brand Vivo recently unveiled a teaser for its OriginOS 6 update, showcasing features that bear a striking resemblance to the anticipated iOS update.

The teaser video highlights transparent windows and icons, mirroring the smoother animation style introduced in iOS 26. Water-centric imagery is also prominently featured. The video even demonstrates a music widget transitioning from an opaque background to the glossy, translucent windows characteristic of the "Liquid Glass" design.

Marketing materials for OriginOS 6 emphasize the smooth user experience, promising "effortless motion" with no lag or stutter. This focus on fluidity echoes the design principles of iOS 26.

This isn't the first time Chinese brands have been accused of drawing inspiration from Apple's operating system. The text notes that many have created their own versions of Apple's Control Center menu, a feature also showcased in the OriginOS 6 video.

However, the practice of borrowing design elements isn't exclusive to any one brand. The text acknowledges that Apple itself has incorporated features from Android.

While the OriginOS 6 update is unlikely to be available to U.S. consumers, as Vivo primarily focuses on international markets, the text suggests that other manufacturers may follow suit and attempt to replicate the "Liquid Glass" design.

BNN's Perspective:

The tech industry thrives on innovation, but it's also a competitive landscape where ideas are often shared and adapted. While it's understandable that consumers might feel a sense of déjà vu when seeing these similarities, it's also important to remember that this is a common practice in the tech world. Ultimately, the consumer benefits from the competition and the evolution of design.
