"Casanova Killer" Glen Rogers Executed, Sends Bizarre Message to Trump
Glen Rogers, the serial killer known as the "Casanova Killer," was executed in Florida on Thursday, leaving behind a chilling final message that included a surprising shout-out to President Donald Trump. The 62-year-old, convicted of the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs in Tampa, was put to death by lethal injection.
Rogers, who claimed to have killed as many as 70 people, was also linked to the deaths of Sandra Gallagher, Mark Peters, Linda Price, and Andy Lou Jiles Sutton across multiple states. His victims often shared similar characteristics: red-haired, single mothers in their 30s. He was known for his charm, which he used to lure women before killing them.
In his final moments, Rogers thanked his wife and delivered a cryptic message: "In the near future, your questions will be answered." His last words were directed at Donald Trump: "President Trump, keep making America great. I'm ready to go."
The execution comes after the US Supreme Court denied his final appeal. Rogers' attorneys had argued for a life sentence, citing new child trafficking laws and past abuse.
Rogers gained notoriety beyond his crimes due to his potential connection to the infamous OJ Simpson case. A 2012 documentary explored the possibility of his involvement in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. However, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) dismissed any link, stating they had no reason to believe Rogers was involved. OJ Simpson, who was acquitted in the criminal trial but later found liable in a civil suit, died in April 2024.
This execution marks the fifth in Florida this year. The next execution, of Anthony Wainwright, is scheduled for June 10th.
BNN's Perspective: While the final words of a condemned man are often scrutinized, Rogers' message to Trump feels particularly jarring. It's a stark reminder of the complex intersection of crime, celebrity, and politics, and the enduring fascination with the OJ Simpson case. The fact that a man with such a horrific past chose to address a President in his final moments is a testament to the power of celebrity and the enduring relevance of political figures, even in the face of death.
