India reports over 10,000 New Covid Cases, 38% More Than Yesterday; Active Caseload More Than 63,000

New Delhi: India on Wednesday (April 19) reported 10,542 new Covid-19 infections, 38 per cent more than the previous day, according to the data by Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
The active case count, according to the ministry stands at 63,562. At least 8,175 recoveries have also been made with the recovery rate updated to 98.68 per cent. According to the data, 2,40,014 Covid-19 tests were also conducted across the country.
There were also 27 new deaths, with the highest number in Maharashtra, increasing the toll due to the disease to 5,31,190. According to the health ministry, the fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent. Other states with high fatalities included Karnataka, Delhi, and Chattisgarh.
