Human Remains Found Near Taylor Swift's Rhode Island Home Sparks Investigation
A grim discovery in Westerly, Rhode Island, has captured local and national attention. On Wednesday morning, authorities were called to Everett Avenue following a report of possible human remains. Upon investigation, police found what appeared to be a human leg bone. The remains have been transferred to the state's Medical Examiner's Office for further examination.
The location of the discovery is particularly noteworthy, as it's situated near property owned by pop superstar Taylor Swift. Swift purchased the historic High Watch House mansion in Westerly's Watch Hill district in 2013. The remains were found approximately a seven-minute walk from her home.
Local resident Taylor Day witnessed the scene as investigators arrived. She expressed concern, stating the discovery was "very out of the ordinary for Westerly" and found the situation "very suspicious."
This unsettling find comes amidst growing speculation about a potential serial killer operating in New England. Since March, a total of 13 bodies or sets of remains have been discovered across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Five were found in Massachusetts, five in Connecticut, and now three in Rhode Island. While authorities in all three states have stated that the deaths don't appear to be connected and there is likely no serial killer, investigations are ongoing.
The theory of a New England serial killer has fueled widespread online discussion, with numerous dedicated Facebook groups and active conversations on platforms like TikTok and Reddit. The discovery in Westerly has only intensified the public's interest and concern.
