First Trailer: HBOs The Last of Us Series
After a brief tease in their 2023 preview, HBO have released the first official trailer from the upcoming TV series adaptation of developer Naughty Dogs acclaimed game The Last of Us. The story is set twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization in a biological apocalypse involving fungal spores. The action centers on Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle a girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. The seemingly small job becomes a brutal journey as they come to depend on each other for survival. The first season will adapt the original 2013 PlayStation exclusive even as it will deviate in some episodes. Showrunner Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) has previously indicated that changes being made are designed to expand or fill in some elements from the games story, not change the core of it.
