**Royals Rally in Extra Innings to Defeat Red Sox, Extending Winning Streak**

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals continued their hot streak Friday night, edging out the Boston Red Sox in a thrilling 2-1 victory that went into extra innings. Freddy Fermin delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 12th, sending a line drive single into left-center field to secure the win.

The Royals' victory marks their seventh consecutive win and their 16th in their last 18 games, solidifying their impressive performance. The game was a pitching duel for much of the night, with both starting pitchers delivering strong performances.

Royals pitcher Michael Lorenzen pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits while striking out seven. His defense, including a highlight-reel diving catch by first baseman Salvador Perez, helped keep the Red Sox off the scoreboard. Boston's Hunter Dobbins also pitched well, holding the Royals scoreless through six innings.

The game remained scoreless until the 11th inning when both teams finally managed to score a run. The Red Sox's Rafael Devers, who had created controversy the previous day by refusing to play first base, went 1 for 5 with an RBI.

Steven Cruz earned his first major league win for the Royals, pitching the 12th inning. Sean Newcombe took the loss for the Red Sox.

The Royals will look to continue their winning ways in the second game of the series on Saturday, with LHP Cole Ragans taking the mound against Boston's LHP Garrett Crochet.
