Universal Store Co-Founder's Death Leads to Business Closures

Brisbane, Australia - The community is reeling from the death of Greg Josephson, co-founder of the popular youth clothing chain Universal Store. Josephson, 58, was found dead at a residence in Clayfield on June 26th. A 15-year-old boy, known to Josephson, has been charged with murder and remains before the court.

Josephson co-founded Universal Store in 1999 with his brother, Michael, and served as a company director until 2018. The company was later sold to private equity investors and subsequently listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2020. Following his departure from Universal Store, Josephson acted as the chief executive of Josephson Holdings Pty Ltd.

In the wake of his death, Josephson's family has made the difficult decision to permanently close several of his businesses. Cafe Noosa, Noosa General Store, and Eumundi Sourdough Co. ceased operations on July 14th. Cafe Doonan, another of Josephson's ventures, will remain open.

Tributes have poured in from various sources. Universal Store released a statement expressing their sadness and offering condolences to Josephson's family. Cafe Doonan described Josephson as a "wonderful owner" and highlighted his passion and vision for his businesses.
