Jury Duty Returns with a Corporate Twist
The Emmy-nominated mockumentary series *Jury Duty* is set to return for its second season, titled *Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat*, premiering on Prime Video this March. The new season will follow a different premise, shifting the setting from a courtroom to a corporate retreat.
The series will debut with three episodes on March 20, followed by two episodes on March 27, and concluding with a three-episode finale on April 3. The core concept remains the same: one individual is unaware that the entire scenario is staged. This time, the unsuspecting participant is Anthony, a newly hired employee at a family-owned hot sauce company. He will navigate a corporate offsite event, unaware that everyone around him is an actor.
The documentary-style comedy will capture the dynamics of the corporate getaway as the company's founder prepares to step down. The retreat becomes a battleground between large corporate ambitions and the values of a small business, with the future of the company at stake.
The series is executive produced by a team including David Bernad, Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, Todd Schulman, Nicholas Hatton, Jake Szymanski, Anthony King, Chris Kula, James Marsden, and Ruben Fleischer. While Marsden, who played a fictionalized version of himself in the first season, is an executive producer for the new season, he will not be part of the cast.
The first season of *Jury Duty* garnered significant acclaim, earning four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The original series followed an unsuspecting civilian through a fabricated trial, where the majority of the jury were actors.
BNN's Perspective: The success of *Jury Duty* highlights the enduring appeal of reality-bending comedy. While the premise of the new season is different, the core concept of an unsuspecting participant in a fabricated scenario has the potential to deliver both humor and social commentary. The shift to a corporate setting offers a fresh perspective, allowing for exploration of workplace dynamics and the clash between different business philosophies. The show's success hinges on its ability to maintain the delicate balance between staged scenarios and genuine human reactions, and we look forward to seeing how the new season unfolds.
