Eagles GM Addresses A.J. Brown Trade Speculation
Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding wide receiver A.J. Brown, reiterating that Brown remains a member of the team. Roseman made the statement at the NFL's annual league meeting, acknowledging the public interest in Brown's situation.
Reports indicate that Brown, 28, provided the Eagles with a list of four preferred trade destinations: the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots. However, the Bills are reportedly out of the running due to a prior trade, while the Chargers and Chiefs have shown little interest. The Los Angeles Rams briefly entered the conversation but were reportedly deterred by medical research.
The situation appears to have narrowed down to a potential trade with the New England Patriots. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that the Eagles are not in a rush to make a move and that any potential trade would likely occur after June 1. Schefter also highlighted that the Patriots could pursue other wide receiver options, potentially removing them from the Brown market. Schefter also emphasized that there is no agreement between the Eagles and Patriots.
Brown, who was drafted by Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in 2019 when Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, has had a successful career. He posted impressive numbers in his first season with the Eagles, followed by another strong performance in 2023. However, the Eagles' offense shifted to focus on running back Saquon Barkley after he signed with the team in 2024. Brown expressed dissatisfaction with his role, and his production decreased in 2025. Brown recorded 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2025 season.
BNN's Perspective:
The situation surrounding A.J. Brown is a complex one, and it's understandable why the Eagles are taking their time. While Brown's talent is undeniable, the team's offensive strategy and his expressed frustrations create a delicate balance. The Eagles' willingness to wait until after June 1 suggests they are exploring all options, and a trade could be beneficial for both parties if the right opportunity arises.
