Dobyns-Bennett and Sullivan East Win District Volleyball Titles; High School Soccer Highlights

District Volleyball and Soccer Championships Conclude
Local high school sports saw intense competition Thursday night, with district championships decided in volleyball and soccer.
In Blountville, the Dobyns-Bennett Lady Indians and the Science Hill Lady Hilltoppers battled for the 1-AAA volleyball title. After Science Hill won the first match, Dobyns-Bennett fought back in a second, decisive match. The Lady Indians secured a hard-fought victory, winning the final set 16-14 and claiming the championship. Both teams will now advance to the regional tournament.
Meanwhile, in Bluff City, the Sullivan East Lady Patriots and the Chuckey Doak Black Knights faced off for the 1-AA volleyball title. Sullivan East emerged victorious, winning the championship match 3-1. The Lady Patriots maintained a perfect 4-0 record throughout the tournament.
On the soccer field, the Sullivan East Lady Patriots played to a 1-1 draw against Chuckey Doak. Gracie Cox scored the sole goal for Sullivan East. The Lady Patriots are scheduled to host Unicoi Co. in the District Tournament on Tuesday.
In another soccer match, Providence Academy faced Notre Dame, resulting in a 4-1 defeat. Anarose Kozlowski scored a goal with an assist from Lindsay Williams, while goalkeeper Mollie Stewart made five saves for Providence Academy.
