Los Angeles County residents now have easier access to essential health supplies with the launch of 51 Community Health Station kiosks across the county. These self-service kiosks, strategically placed in areas with limited healthcare access, offer free COVID-19 tests, fentanyl test strips, condoms, and naloxone (an opioid overdose reversal medication).
The program, initially focused on distributing COVID-19 antigen tests, has expanded to address the ongoing overdose crisis, HIV epidemic, and high rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This expansion reflects the county's commitment to providing comprehensive public health resources. The kiosks are located in pharmacies, health centers, community centers, and homeless shelters, making them accessible to a wide range of residents. Notably, 80% of kiosk users have self-reported experiencing homelessness.
