Conan O'Brien's TBS Series to Stream Exclusively on Digital Platforms Through Radial Entertainment Deal

Radial Entertainment has secured the U.S. distribution rights to Conan O'Brien's Emmy-winning late-night talk show, "Conan," which aired on TBS from 2010 to 2021. The deal, announced at Mipcom, grants Radial exclusive rights across various digital platforms, including subscription and ad-supported streaming services, transactional video, and digital networks. This agreement encompasses all 11 seasons of the show.

Jeff Peisch of Radial Entertainment highlighted O'Brien's significant impact on American comedy, noting his enduring appeal and influence on modern comedic styles. Radial Entertainment aims to preserve O'Brien's legacy by making the decade-long series available to fans on streaming platforms.

The talk show, hosted by O'Brien and featuring Andy Richter, was known for its blend of comedy sketches and interviews covering a wide range of topics, including entertainment, sports, politics, and culture. The series gained recognition for its international remote segments and received multiple Emmy Awards. The show also led to the spin-offs "Conan Without Borders" and "Conan O'Brien Must Go," which are currently available on HBO Max. Jeff Ross served as the executive producer for the show.

O'Brien's career in late-night television, spanning nearly three decades, was recognized earlier this year with his induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. Bruce David Eisen of Eisen Law represented Radial Entertainment in the negotiations. Radial Entertainment, backed by Oaktree Capital Management, also operates the FilmRise and Shout! Studios brands and has a vast library of over 70,000 movies and episodes.

BNN's Perspective: This deal underscores the continued demand for classic television content in the streaming era. While the shift to digital distribution is a natural evolution, it's important to ensure that these shows remain accessible and well-curated for audiences. The success of this venture will depend on Radial Entertainment's ability to effectively manage and promote the show across its various digital platforms.
