ChatGPT Unveils Dedicated Hub for Scheduled Tasks, Enhancing User Control
OpenAI has begun rolling out a significant update to ChatGPT, introducing a dedicated hub for scheduled tasks that aims to make the chatbot's future-oriented capabilities more accessible and manageable for users. This new feature, now visible as a shortcut to a "Scheduled" page within ChatGPT's sidebar, allows users to view, pause, edit, and delete any tasks they have assigned to the AI for future execution.
The company has also focused on improving the underlying functionality of scheduled prompts, reporting that "all tasks are faster and more reliable." This enhancement means users can now confidently delegate future actions to ChatGPT, whether it's a precise time-based request or a broader timeframe, such as a specific part of the day. The update also introduces the ability to set up monitoring tasks, enabling ChatGPT to proactively search the web or connected applications on the user's behalf.
This enhanced scheduling functionality is being made available to users across various subscription tiers, including Go, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, on both web and mobile platforms. At present, there has been no announcement regarding when free tier users might gain access to these new scheduling features.
In conjunction with the launch of the scheduled tasks hub, OpenAI is discontinuing its "Pulse" feature, a personalized daily summary service introduced last year. Pro users will have a 14-day grace period to continue using Pulse, after which they can leverage the new scheduling hub to generate future summaries.
BNN's Perspective:
The introduction of a dedicated hub for scheduled tasks represents a logical evolution for ChatGPT, moving beyond immediate conversational interactions to offer more proactive and automated assistance. This enhancement empowers users with greater control over how and when the AI performs tasks, potentially streamlining workflows and improving productivity. The focus on speed and reliability suggests a commitment to making these advanced features practical for everyday use. While the current rollout prioritizes paid subscribers, the long-term accessibility for all users will be a key factor in its widespread adoption. The sunsetting of Pulse in favor of the new scheduling hub indicates a strategic shift towards more integrated and user-defined automation within the ChatGPT ecosystem.
