Hocevar Secures Pole Position at Texas Motor Speedway

Carson Hocevar will lead the field at the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, marking his second career Cup pole. This achievement follows his recent victory at Talladega on April 26 and his win in Friday's Truck Series race at the same track. Hocevar secured the pole with a lap time of 28.222 seconds, narrowly edging out his Spire Motorsports teammate, Daniel Suarez, by a mere .003 seconds.

Suarez will start alongside Hocevar on the front row. Chris Buescher, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Briscoe completed the top five qualifiers. The top ten was rounded out by Kyle Busch, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman, and Ty Gibbs.

Other notable qualifying results include Kyle Larson in 11th, Connor Zilisch in 12th, Chase Elliott in 14th, William Byron in 15th, and Ryan Blaney in 31st. Defending Texas winner Joey Logano qualified 23rd. Chad Finchum recorded the slowest lap time.

Bubba Wallace will start in 37th position after crashing in practice, and Austin Dillon will start 38th due to an engine change.

The Wurth 400 is scheduled to begin shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Coverage will be available on FS1, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, with pre-race coverage starting at 2 p.m. ET on FS1 and 2:30 p.m. ET on PRN.

BNN's Perspective:

Hocevar's performance is a testament to the growing competitiveness within NASCAR. While the close finish between teammates highlights the importance of teamwork, the overall field's performance suggests an exciting race ahead. The unexpected setbacks for drivers like Wallace and Dillon add an element of unpredictability, promising a dynamic and engaging competition for fans.
