Springsteen Slams Trump Administration in Manchester Concert Speech
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off the final leg of their tour in Manchester, England, with a powerful and politically charged opening. On May 14th, "The Boss" delivered an impassioned speech criticizing the current state of American politics and the administration of President Donald J. Trump.
Springsteen didn't mince words, describing the Trump administration as "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous." He called on the audience to "rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom ring!" before launching into performances of "Wrecking Ball," "Land of Hope and Dreams," and "My City of Ruins." He also highlighted concerns about the persecution of free speech and dissent in America.
This isn't the first time Springsteen has voiced his political opinions. He has been a vocal critic of Trump for years and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The tour, rebranded as the "Land of Hope and Dreams Tour," will continue throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, concluding on July 3rd in Milan, Italy.
The tour, which began in February 2023, follows the release of Springsteen's album "Only the Strong Survive." Fans can also look forward to a new collection of unreleased music, "Tracks II: The Lost Albums," coming soon.
BNN's Perspective: While Springsteen's strong opinions are well-known, his passionate plea for democracy and freedom resonates with many. It's a reminder of the power of art and music to spark dialogue and encourage civic engagement, even if the specific political viewpoints are divisive.
