Penelope Keith, the celebrated British actress renowned for her iconic roles in beloved sitcoms, has passed away at the age of 86. Keith, who captivated audiences with her portrayals of formidable yet endearing upper-class characters, died following a battle with cancer. Her family confirmed her passing on Monday.

Keith first honed her craft on the stage, joining the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company in 1963. However, it was her transition to television that cemented her status as a household name. Another notable performance came in the sitcom "To the Manor Born," which aired in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and later returned for a special in 2007. In this series, Keith embodied Audrey fforbes-Hamilton, an impoverished aristocratic widow who navigates a complex relationship with a nouveau riche businessman who purchases her estate.

Beyond her comedic triumphs, Keith's distinctive voice was also a familiar sound to younger audiences as the voice of the Bear With Brown Fuzzy Hair in the children's program "Teletubbies." Her vocal talents were also utilized in numerous advertising campaigns.
