Local Community Mourns the Loss of Beverly A. Power
Stoddard is mourning the passing of Beverly A. Power, a long-time resident and respected community figure, who died peacefully at her home on April 28, 2026, at the age of 79. Born Beverly Jean Arrington in Greenfield, Massachusetts, she graduated with honors from Brattleboro Union High School in 1964.
In 1965, she married Harry Power, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. The couple relocated to Stoddard in 1973, where they established several businesses. Power was particularly known for her 45-year career as a dedicated Realtor, operating Pitcher Mountain Realtors. She also served on the Stoddard Zoning Board of Adjustment for many years, including a term as its chair.
Beyond her professional life, Power was a creative and artistic individual. She expressed her talents through painting, baking, knitting, and crafting stained glass. Her home was a testament to her artistic flair, and she cultivated vibrant gardens.
Faith played a central role in Power's life. She was a member of the Stoddard Congregational Church and was instrumental in coordinating the installation of the steeple at Chapel by the Lake in 1995. She was known for her community spirit, baking apple pies for the church's Applefest.
Power is survived by her husband, Harry, and their three children: Kimberly Reny, Matthew Power, and Deborah Michaud, along with seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, son-in-law, and great-niece.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stoddard Congregational Church on Saturday, May 23, 2026, followed by a reception at the Stoddard Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Monadnock Humane Society.
