Air Canada Elevates Economy Class Experience with Free Drinks and Snacks
Air Canada is shaking up the in-flight experience for economy class passengers by offering complimentary beer, wine, and snacks on all flights. This move, initially implemented on flights within the US and Canada, has now been extended to all routes, including those to the US and Mexico.
Passengers can now enjoy a selection of beverages and snacks without incurring extra charges. The airline is providing a variety of options to cater to different tastes and times of day. For morning flights before 10 am, passengers can enjoy MadeGood Mornings Cinnamon Bun Soft Baked Oat Bars. After 10:30 am, Greenhouse Ginger Defence Wellness Shots are available, which are also featured in the airline's premium snack baskets and Bistro menu.
The airline is also expanding its Air Canada Bistro menu to include more Canadian-made products. The new offerings include Summer Fresh Hummus & Crackers, Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cups, TWIGZ Sour Cream & Onion Pretzels, and Smarties. Air Canada is also the only North American carrier to offer Heineken 0.0, a non-alcoholic beer, inflight.
Scott OLeary, Vice President, Loyalty & Product at Air Canada, stated that the airline is committed to enhancing the onboard experience. He highlighted that these upgrades offer something for everyone and showcase Canadian brands.
BNN's Perspective:
This move by Air Canada is a welcome development for economy class travelers. While the cost of these additions will likely be factored into overall pricing, the perceived value and improved passenger experience are undeniable. It's a smart strategy to differentiate themselves in a competitive market and could encourage customer loyalty. The focus on Canadian-made products is also a positive touch, supporting local businesses and adding a sense of national pride to the in-flight experience.
