Apple Unveils AirPods Max 2 with Enhanced Features

Apple has announced the upcoming release of the AirPods Max 2, the first significant update to its over-ear headphones since the original model's debut. Pre-orders begin March 25th, with shipping slated for early April. The new headphones retain the familiar design, featuring large earcups and a matching headband, but incorporate significant internal upgrades.

The most notable enhancement is the integration of the H2 chip, previously introduced in the AirPods Pro 2. This chip powers several new features, including significantly improved noise cancellation. Apple claims the AirPods Max 2 are 1.5 times more effective at reducing noise compared to the previous generation. Audio quality has also been improved with a new amplifier, promising clearer music reproduction and enhanced spatial audio performance. Live Translation, a feature that utilizes the AirPods and iPhone to translate incoming speech, is also included.

The AirPods Max 2 now offer nearly all the features found in the AirPods Pro 3, but in an over-ear design. The price remains unchanged at $549, positioning them at a premium price point compared to competitors. The original AirPods Max, despite their exceptional sound quality, faced criticism due to their aging feature set and high cost.
