**Andrew Tate and Brother Charged with Rape and Trafficking in the UK**
Controversial influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate are now facing serious criminal charges in the United Kingdom, the Crown Prosecution Service announced Wednesday. The charges, authorized in January 2023, mark a significant escalation in the legal battles surrounding the brothers, who have cultivated massive online followings.
Andrew Tate, 38, is facing a total of 10 charges related to three women, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. His brother, Tristan Tate, 36, is charged with 11 counts related to one woman, encompassing rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm.
The charges stem from an investigation by Bedfordshire Police, with warrants dating back to between 2012 and 2015. While arrest warrants were previously reported, this is the first confirmation of formal criminal charges in the UK.
The Tates, dual U.S. and British citizens, moved to Romania in 2016. They were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and formally indicted last year on charges of participating in a criminal ring that allegedly lured women for sexual exploitation. They have denied all allegations in Romania.
The brothers briefly returned to the United States earlier this year, prompting a response from Florida officials. Romanian courts have issued an order to extradite the brothers to the UK once their Romanian case concludes. The whereabouts of the brothers are currently unknown.
