AMD Unveils New Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Processor with Enhanced Cache
AMD has announced the upcoming release of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor, scheduled to launch on April 22. This new CPU boasts a significant upgrade in on-chip cache, aiming to enhance performance for creative professionals and developers.
The key feature of the 9950X3D2 is its substantial 208 MB of L3 cache, achieved by incorporating 3D V-Cache technology on both of its eight-core chiplets. This design provides a substantial increase compared to the current Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which has 128 MB of L3 cache. AMD emphasizes that this increased cache capacity will improve responsiveness across demanding workloads by reducing latency and allowing for faster data access.
While the 9950X3D2 shares the same 16-core configuration as its predecessor, it operates with a higher Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 200W, 30W more than the gaming-focused chip. AMD claims the new processor will deliver a 510% performance boost in creative and productivity tasks compared to the 9950X3D.
