All-new 'The Magic of Disney Animation' area coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios at WDW

New Disney Animation Experience Set for 2026 at Hollywood Studios

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Disney enthusiasts are in for a treat as a brand-new animation experience is slated to open at Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2026. The new area, "The Magic of Disney Animation," promises to immerse guests in the world of Disney animation, drawing inspiration from the legendary Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, and the Emmy-winning short film, "Once Upon a Studio."

The new attraction will take over the space currently occupied by Star Wars: Launch Bay. Visitors can anticipate a variety of interactive experiences, including opportunities to learn how to draw classic Disney characters and meet them. The Production Gallery will feature portraits that come to life, mirroring the effect seen in "Once Upon a Studio." A Screening Theater will also showcase short films.

A highlight for younger guests will be "Drawn to Wonderland," an indoor playground inspired by "Alice in Wonderland." This area will feature an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area.

The Animation Courtyard will also undergo a transformation, becoming "The Walt Disney Studios," an outdoor area designed with shaded seating and playful landscaping. This area is designed to be a relaxing spot to enjoy treats.

To make way for the new experiences, Animation Courtyard, Star Wars: Launch Bay, and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close starting September 25, 2025. Other attractions, such as "The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure" and Walt Disney Presents, will remain open.

The inspiration behind the new area, Disney's "Once Upon a Studio," is available for streaming on Disney+.
