Alia Bhatt on why nepotism debate has pursued her despite her credible film choices: I acknowledge my privilege

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has been working in the industry as a lead actor for slightly over a decade. And with nearly every succeeding film choice, she attempts to show a new facet of herself as an artiste. Bhatt had made her debut in 2012 with the Karan Johar film Student of the Year, co-starring Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, and one of the reasons she got such a big-ticket launch is thanks to her parents, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan. In a recent interview with Bazaar, Alia opened up about the nepotism debate and acknowledged her privilege, adding, "It has definitely come up a lot in conversation over the last couple of years. The long and short of it is, I empathise. I understand that its possibly been easier for me to get through the door than maybe the next person. And I compare my dreams to another persons dreams: no dream is bigger or smaller, or more intense. Everybodys dreams are the same, everybodys desire is the same." The actor said she understands why do people keep bringing up that conversation in connection with her despite her versatile and credible filmography: "So I completely understand where that conversation comes from. The only thing I can say is that I acknowledge the fact that I have gotten that head start. I acknowledge the fact that I do have that privilege, which is why I give 100 per cent every day and I never take my work for granted. The only thing I can do is keep my head down and keep working." Alia Bhatt is looking forward to collaborating with Karan Johar once again, in his comeback directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie also stars Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal parts.
