Alaska Airlines Expands California-Hawaii Flight Options
Alaska Airlines has introduced a new daily, nonstop flight connecting Hollywood Burbank Airport and Honolulu. This seasonal service, which commenced on Wednesday and will operate through August 18th, provides Southern Californians with an additional direct route to Hawaii.
The new flight departs from Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in the early afternoon and arrives in Burbank in the evening. This route is part of Alaska Airlines' broader expansion of its California-to-Hawaii network.
With the addition of Burbank, Alaska Airlines now offers nonstop flights to Honolulu from nine California airports. The airline also provides nonstop service to other Hawaiian islands.
Alaska Airlines attributes this expanded service to its joint network with Hawaiian Airlines. This partnership allows the airline to offer a greater number of flights, destinations, and seats to travelers between California and Hawaii. The airline anticipates operating nearly 23,000 flights between California and Hawaii during its summer expansion. Round-trip fares for the new route begin at approximately $500.
BNN's Perspective: This expansion by Alaska Airlines is a positive development for consumers, offering increased travel options and potentially driving down prices through increased competition. The partnership with Hawaiian Airlines appears to be a strategic move, allowing both airlines to leverage their strengths and provide a more comprehensive service. While the seasonal nature of the new route may not be ideal for all travelers, it does provide a convenient option for those seeking a summer getaway.
