Marlins Maul Braves, Ending Losing Streak
MIAMI, FL - The Miami Marlins snapped a three-game losing streak Monday night, overpowering the Atlanta Braves with a decisive 10-4 victory. Agustn Ramrez and Connor Norby led the offensive charge, each contributing home runs to the Marlins' impressive performance.
RamÃrez had a standout game, going 3 for 4 at the plate, including a 418-foot, three-run homer in the fifth inning that broke a 3-3 tie. He finished the night with four RBIs and two runs scored. Norby also had a strong showing, going 2 for 5 and driving in two runs. Liam Hicks and Xavier Edwards also contributed significantly to the Marlins' offensive output, each with multiple hits and RBIs. The Marlins' offense was particularly potent, racking up a season-best 16 hits and matching their season high in runs scored.
On the mound, the Marlins' bullpen proved to be a key factor in securing the win. Andrew Nardi earned the win, pitching a scoreless fifth inning in relief of Eury Prez. Nardi, along with Calvin Faucher, John King, Lake Bachar, and Anthony Bender, combined for five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits.
The Braves' offense saw contributions from Michael Harris II, who returned from paternity leave and went 2 for 3, and Austin Riley, who knocked in two runs. However, Atlanta starter Grant Holmes struggled, giving up three runs in the fourth inning.
In a notable achievement, Braves first baseman Matt Olson played in his 799th consecutive game, surpassing Nellie Fox for the 11th-longest games played streak in major league history.
The series continues Tuesday with a pitching matchup between Marlins RHP Max Meyer and Braves RHP Reynaldo Lpez.
BNN's Perspective: The Marlins' victory is a welcome sign for the team, especially after a tough weekend. While it's just one game, the offensive explosion and strong bullpen performance are encouraging signs for the team's prospects. The Braves, despite the loss, remain a formidable opponent, and the upcoming games will be a good test for both teams.
