In 1951, Englishman Max Faulkner secured his only major title at Royal Portrush. More recently, in 2019, Irishman Shane Lowry claimed his first major victory on the same course. Lowry, now 38, is returning to the tournament, aiming for his second major win. He is currently in good form, ranking third in strokes gained on approach shots and holding a strong position in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings.
