Blue Film Director Elliot Tuttle Joins Fusion Entertainment
Los Angeles – Fusion Entertainment has announced the signing of writer and director Elliot Tuttle to its management roster. The deal comes on the heels of the premiere of Tuttle's debut feature film, *Blue Film*. The film, a queer thriller, made its debut at the Edinburgh Film Festival and later screened at NewFest.
*Blue Film* stars Tony winner Reed Birney and Kieron Moore. The story centers on Aaron Eagle, played by Moore, a camboy who has an encounter with a client, played by Birney, that unexpectedly connects to his past.
Tuttle, a graduate of Occidental College, is based in Los Angeles. Prior to *Blue Film*, Tuttle created the narrative podcast *Linas Song*, which featured Hari Nef and Dylan Gelula, and was executive produced by Mark Duplass. Duplass also served as a consulting producer on *Blue Film*.
The film has garnered positive reviews. Variety's Guy Lodge highlighted the performances of Birney and Moore, describing the film as "an unabashed provocation, but not a hollow one." *Blue Film* was produced by Bijan Kazerooni, Will Youmans, Waylon Sall, and Adam Kersh, a founding partner of Fusion Entertainment. Submarine Entertainment is currently managing sales for the film, which is seeking distribution.
Fusion Entertainment expressed enthusiasm for the addition of Tuttle, stating their commitment to supporting innovative voices in independent cinema, particularly those exploring queer storytelling. Kersh described Tuttle as a "singular talent" whose work is "fearless, provocative, and deeply human."
BNN's Perspective:
The signing of Elliot Tuttle by Fusion Entertainment is a promising development. While the film's subject matter may be considered niche, the positive critical reception suggests a compelling narrative. The industry's willingness to embrace bold, independent voices is a positive trend, and it will be interesting to see how *Blue Film* performs in the distribution market.
