ATRI Welcomes New Directors to Board
The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), a non-profit research organization focused on freight transportation, has announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. The appointments were made by ATRI Chairman of the Board Derek Leathers, who is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Werner Enterprises.
The new board members are Mike Ludwick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bison USA, and Michael Kiely, President of Global Government Affairs at UPS.
Mr. Ludwick has been with Bison Transport since 1997 and became President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2024. He previously served as Chief Administrative Officer and was a member of ATRI's Research Advisory Committee from 2019 to 2024.
Mr. Kiely began his career with UPS in 1992 and has held various leadership positions within the company's finance and accounting functions. He transitioned to UPS's Government Affairs division in 2005 and was named President of U.S. Government Affairs in 2020. In 2023, he became President of Global Government Affairs, leading legislative strategy and advocacy efforts for UPS.
Rebecca Brewster, ATRI President and COO, welcomed the new additions, noting their long-time support of the organization. ATRI conducts research related to freight transportation's role in maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient transportation system.
BNN's Perspective:
The addition of these two industry leaders to ATRI's board signals a continued focus on research and development within the freight transportation sector. Their diverse backgrounds and experience, particularly in operations and government affairs, will likely strengthen ATRI's ability to address the complex challenges facing the industry. This move demonstrates a commitment to innovation and efficiency within the trucking industry.
